What do you get when you cross one overtired busy mama with a holiday that arrives way too fast? You get me last week, trying to do too many things at once and forgetting to buy pumpkins for my kids to carve on Halloween.
Of course I thought about it every time I went to the store the week before Halloween. But I talked myself out of it… it’s too early… those pumpkins will rot on my front porch before it’s time to carve them… we can get bigger and better (and cheaper) ones if we check another store… maybe we’ll go to the pumpkin patch and let them pick out one of their own. Yeah, I had good intentions but we all know what happens to good intentions that don’t get acted upon… nothing.
Hence, what might become our new tradition… instead of carving messy pumpkins I told my kids we were going to carve orange bell peppers. They don’t like scooping out the pumpkin guts any more than I like cleaning them up so thankfully they went along with the change of plans.
Aren’t their little peppers cute? And honestly, it took them about 5 minutes to carve them instead of a couple of hours. I’m calling that an unintentional win-win.
Have you ever had a MOM moment like that? If so, share in the comments. It would be great to know I’m not alone. ❤️❤️❤️
What a fantastic idea, they are amazing looking….and everyone will think that you were thinking outside of the box, which you definitely were…..don’t be surprised if other families jump on this idea. Very clever Dylann!!!!
