Romance Authors Recommend – July 2020

Welcome to Romance Authors Recommend… July 2020 edition, where your favorite authors recommend recent reads they loved that you might not have heard about yet!

This month I received recommendations from Heather Ashley, Abigail Sharpe, and Julie Olivia. Read on to find out which books they loved so much they had to tell us all about them!

Heather Ashley is a self-described socially-awkward introvert who loves happy endings, and not the creepy massage parlor type. She says she’s not awesome at singing or keeping her house clean, but is obsessed with bringing characters to life.

Heather recommends… The Lost Savior by Siobhan Davis.

They came from another world to protect her. Now it’s her destiny to save them…

Tori King is a normal senior in high school. Head over heels in love with her childhood sweetheart, she is busy making plans for college when a chance encounter with an alien bounty hunter turns her world upside down. Now, she’s experiencing terrifying changes and developing supernatural abilities that leave her questioning her entire existence.

Then the arrival of four hot new guys at school has everyone talking—especially when they become fixated on Tori, following her wherever she goes. She can’t shake them off, and as they grow closer, she finds herself drawn to all four of them in ways she cannot explain.

When they finally reveal their true identity, and why they’re here for her, she discovers everything she thought she knew about herself is a lie.

Because there is nothing normal about Tori King.

And she’s about to discover exactly how underrated normal is.

Heather says… “I typically don’t read a lot of reverse harem novels, but I dove into a more recent release of hers and found myself starting this series when that one ended. It sucked me in immediately and I was completely hooked. It’s slated to be a five-book series, but only the first four are out right now. I finished all four in three days because I couldn’t put them down. The layered complexity of each character was built so well. Alinthia’s journey is a wild ride, but one I never want to get off of.”

Sounds amazing to me as well! What do you think? If you’d like to learn more about Heather and the books she writes, you can find her on her website or on Instagram.

Next up, Abigail Sharpe! A Boston-bred Yankee now living in North Central Florida, Abigail writes passionate, playful contemporary romance. Or she’s eating grits and singing bawdy songs at medieval faires.

Abigail recommends… He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not by Lena Diaz.

Four years ago, Amanda Stockton was forced to play a serial killer’s twisted game of chance. Since then, she has retreated from the world, bearing the scar from her ordeal and the burden of a terrible secret. But when another woman is found dead, clutching a long-stemmed red rose, Amanda knows she can hide no longer.

If there were any other way, Chief Logan Richards would never ask the only surviving victim for help. But it’s clear this killer will not be stopped and Amanda is the only link. Torn between catching a madman and winning the trust of the woman he’s come to love, Logan is caught in a dangerous game with Amanda. And there’s no guarantee they’ll come out on top.

Abigail says… “The first page gave me goosebumps, and the rest of the book followed through. Loved the relationship between the hero and heroine, and that the heroine was strong!”

We all love a strong heroine, don’t we? If you’d like to learn more about Abigail, you can find her at her website or hanging out on Facebook.

And last, but definitely not least, we’ve got a recommendation from Julie Olivia! Julie is an indie romance author of love stories with a lot of spice and even more sass.

Julie recommends… Manhattan by Kandi Steiner.

Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.

But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.

He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.

And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.

Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.

Until it was the worst.

I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.

One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.

One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.

And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

Julia says… “This is a small town romance and coming-of-age book done RIGHT. It’s sweet. It’s fun. It’s sexy. And most of all, it’s the absolute perfect representation of first love that’ll leave you swooning for days. It may be third in her Becker Brothers series, but it can be read as a stand-alone with just as much enjoyment!”

That sounds just like my perfect brand of catnip! You can find Julie on her website or over on Instagram!
